Quickwrite - Story Starters: A-ha! Sunny Finally Found What she had been Looking for

 A-ha! Sunny finally found what she had been looking for. A bright green cactus stood right in front of her, its black spikes reflecting the sunlight. After visiting Blaze of the Sandwings near the Ice kingdom, the Dragonets of Destiny (including Sunny) had been trying to sought out a cactus to bring back to their - used to be - guardian, for he had been stabbed by princess Blister at the Seawing summer palace. Sunny had asked Blaze how to cure Sandwing venom, Blaze was confused about this because Sunny didn't even have a poisonous barbed tail like most Sandwings but she still answered with cactus juice. Sunny started to tug on the cactus, the sharp spikes stabbing at her hands like dragon talons.

"Don't try and bring the whole cactus, just snap one of those arm-thingies off," chuckled Tsunami, pointing at the small cactus growing off the big one. "That's what I'm - ouch, trying to do," Sunny replied, starting to cut the arm off with one of her claws, turning green-y from the cactus juice spurting out of the wound. The cactus finally broke off and the force caused Sunny to fall onto her back, leaving a little pit in the sand. She placed the cactus down and climbed to her feet, brushing sand off of her wings. Tsunami picked up the cactus stub in her talons, wincing as it pricked her palms. "Oh my goodness," shrieked Starflight. "We're trapped! Trapped in the Kingdom of Sand! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!" Starflight pathetically flapped around like a seagull with its head bitten off, flinging sand in all directions.

"Shut up," Glory chuckled, grabbing a handful of sand and throwing it at the chickened-out Nightwing. It hit him on the chest, sand getting stuck between his black scales making him look like a night sky. "Don't worry," called Clay. "The tunnel is still here, it's just covered in sand." "Oh yeah," said Sunny. "I can still see the cactus ring circling the exit." Clay started to dig and sure enough, the tunnel came into sight, Its mouth yawning in front of them. Starflight sighed in relief as Sunny nudged him, a smile spreading across his face. As they started into the dark tunnel, the warmth of the desert faded and the cold rainforest air surrounded them. Sunny stepped onto the damp, rainforest floor mud squelching between her talons. She missed the desert already. "Did you see that in the distance," asked Glory, pointing back at the tunnel."See what,"replied Starflight, scratching his head with one claw. "I saw it." "Me too Clay," said Sunny smiling. Lockdown Learning 

 During the lockdown we still did school activities even though we were not at school. Every week was a new theme and every Friday we dressed up as that theme. 

 Week 1: ANZAC Day

 On our first week of lockdown learning our theme was ANZAC day. Our teacher put up a check off list with lots of activities to complete. There were word finds, 10 WW1 (world war 1) questions and even poppy art. My favorite activity was making ANZAC biscuits (who does not like cookies?) On Friday we dressed up as poppies! 

 Week 2: Animal Kingdom

 Our second week's theme was animals. There were 4 groups we could choose from. The African big 4, sharks, big cats and reptiles. My group was reptiles because lizards and snakes are the closest I could get to a dragon (because I love dragons). Some of the activities were making a mask, making a diorama and guessing the mystery animal. My favorite one was making a mini animal. On Friday I dressed up as a horned lizard.

 Week 3: World Famous

 Our third week’s theme was World Famous. Like Animal Kingdom, there were 4 groups. I was in Movie. We could be any famous person in that theme and I was Benedict Cumberbatch. Some of the tasks were a quiz, magazine cover and even a face morph (I have no idea what that is). On Friday I dressed up Smaug because Benedict Cumberbatch (wow that is hard to spell) did the voice of smaug.

 Week 4: Story Time

 On our last week of lockdown (finally) our theme was Story Time. We could choose any book character to work on. My book character was Saphira from Eragon. Some of the activities were a book cover, a book review and even a wanted poster. My favorite task was the wanted poster. On Friday I dressed up as Saphira (because that was my character).

 Lockdown was pretty fun but we are back at school. YAY!

My Most Amazing few Weeks Back at School!!

What an amazing start to the year I have had in Moana Learning Hub.

First up we have people bingo! We had to go around MLH (Moana Learning Hub) and see if any one could mark off a square on the paper. Some options were going to the moves in the weekends, gone fishing of the wharf and even if they could touch their nose with there tongue. There are more than you expect.

Our buzz groups! near the middle of the week we got given a piece of paper witch had different words on them. My one said porcine. We had to find 6 other people whose words meant the same thing. My group was group pig. Later on we did some games in the hall like running with balloons and building a tower with cups.

On every day of the week we have been doing quick writes. Our first quick write was chocolate vs cheese, our second one was cats vs dogs our third one was aliens vs robots, our forth one was ice age vs jurassic, our fifth one was invisibility vs flying and our most recent one was unicorns vs dragons. Our collaborative art! Later on we got given some tiny itty bitty pieces of paper. Each one of them had a different picture on them and I got given one with some berries and a birds tail on it. We had to copy the picture and draw it on a slightly bigger piece of paper. Then when we drew it on we had to color it in with pastels and sometimes blend.

Wow! My first few weeks back at school has been so amazing. I can't wait to see what my next few weeks will be like. I bet they will be great!

Tabloids day

In week 9 we had a tabloids day. There were lots of different tabloids like apple bobbing, ball throw and many more but I am going to tell you about my three favorite tabloids. My first favorite tabloid was skittles. Skittles is a game that you either throw a ping pong ball or a tennis ball at three skittles. We had no skittles so we used plastic cups. My second favorite tabloid was sponge throw. Sponge throw is a game that is like ball throw and bean bag toss but instead you throw a wet sponge. You get a sponge, soak it in water and throw it into one of the three buckets. The last tabloid I will tell you about is gumboot throw. The aim of the game is to try to throw the gumboot further then your opponent's gumboot. And those were my favorite tabloids.

Marae trip

In week 8 we went to Te Poho o Rawiri marae for a sleepover. On Thursday our parents dropped us of at the marae. The people of the marae welcomed us into the marae and and talked about the history of Te Poho o Rawiri. After that we sat on the grass and had some morning tea. We had the food out of our lunch boxes. When we finished eating koka Teri rung a bell that meant we had to line up in group 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. When everyone was in a line we were told to go to a certain game. I had to go to hand ball first. Then we had lunch, went through a few more rotations then we went into the marae to set up our beds. We went to the place were we put our bags, took out our lunch box and drink bottle and brought our bags into the marae and put them at the bottom of our matrise. When we did that moana 2 and 3 set up our dinner tables. For dinner we had nachos and for dessert we had apples and ice blocks. After dinner we read a book in bed then did a performance in front of everyone. Then we went back to the marae and went to sleep.

The New Puppy

In the weekend I went to Whakatane with Link, Fox, Cristy and Jamie.  Before we got there we had to drive for two hours.  When we got there my nana told us that she had a surprise for us.  She opened a box and out popped a little puppy.  She had a dark brown head, a white body and a brown nose. we had to name the puppy so we called her Macy.  Macy was shy at first but when we started playing with her she wasn't shy anymore.  I was her favourite play buddy.

I played with the puppy for over an hour until we had to go bye toys for Macy.  We bought two squeaky toy dogs for her.  Nana said that the puppy came with the toy.  When we got back she straight away jumped on my lap.  Nana's other dog Merk played tug-o-war with the squeaky dog then Macy wanted to join in.

Every day after breakfast I would go outside to play with Macy.  She liked to chew on everything like shoes, rubbers, clothing, hair and stuffed toys.   When I went out for dinner Macy howled so much that we had to to take her in. It was ok to take her in, otherwise we would've left her in the car.  When we got back Macy had a play fight with Merk.  When I had to go back to my house in Gisborne, I was so sad because I missed Macy sp much.
